Irish Soda Bread

3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup raisons
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 pound butter or margarine
1 egg

Mix all dry ingredients together along with raisons. Mash butter well. Add egg and buttermilk. Pour milk mixture gradually into dry ingredients. Knead well to blend all ingredients. Sprinkle dough lightly with flour. Place dough into greased 9 inch round cake pan. Cut a cross lightly onto top of dough and bake for 1 hour at
350 degrees. Freezes well up to 2 weeks. Wrap in wax paper first, then foil wrap tightly. Enjoy!
