Cherry Rhubarb Crunch

1 c. oatmeal
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter or margarine
4 c. rhubarb, diced
1 c. sugar
2 T. cornstarch
1 c. water
1 tsp. almond extract
1 can cherry pie filling
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped

In large mixing bowl, combine oatmeal, brown sugar, flour and salt; mix well.
Cut in butter till crumbly. Pat 2 c. mixture into a greased 9X13 baking dish. Cover with rhubarb. In saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch. Stir in water; cook till mixture is thickened and clear. Stir in extract and cherry pie filling; spoon over rhubarb. Combine nuts and reserved crumb mixture; sprinkle over cherries.
Bake at 350 for about 40-45 minutes.
