CarbonadeRecipe Index: Soups > Beef3 pounds Beef stew meat 1 1/2 Tablespoons Olive oil 1 1/2 Tablespoons Butter 3 medium Onions, sliced 2 Tablespoons Cider vinegar 2 teaspoons Brown sugar 1 1/2 cups Beer (full-flavored, like Stout) 3 cups Beef broth 2 Bay leaves 1/2 teaspoon Thyme Directions In a deep, heavy pan (that has a lid and can go into the oven), heat the oil and butter. Add the beef and brown. Remove with a slotted spoon. Add the onions and cook until soft. Add the remaining ingredients. Return the beef. Cover and place in a pre-heated 325 oven. Cook for 1 3/4 hours or until the beef is very tender. Serves 4-6 |
